His & Her’s

Hi everyone! Hope you all have entered to win a CASE of tortilla Popchips?? Winner will be selected using Random.org tomorrow!!

Ok so now lets talk about picky eaters. Or about my picky eater. lol Do you have one? Do you ever feel like you are a short order cook? I do! I posted on Instagram that I had cooked up a whole bunch of things but I wasn’t quite sure yet what I was actually making for dinner. I felt like I was on one of those cooking shows that you get a mystery box of ingredients! hehe

turkey meatballs

- roasted mushrooms, butternut squash, garlic & turkey meatballs. hummm??

Well for myself I decided to eat it in it’s AS-IS state.

I scooped out all of the roasted garlic & added the mushrooms & butternut squash to a bowl and mixed it all up. Served with 3 turkey meatballs for a tasty dinner.

But I knew Sean wouldn’t eat the meatballs (WHAT??!!) and I knew I needed to add pasta to it….so I did. HIS dinner was born. He loved it, so I guess it all worked out…but man is cooking 2 meals a night hard work!

Is this going on in anyone else's house? Or am I the crazy one that caters to my picky lovie boy? lol

Moving on…..

Oh! Ever try this hummus??

hummus ideas

I took a chance & got it at Costco last weekend- HOLY YUM!

What I like to do with it might be considered a little weird. Smile I bake/toast a whole wheat pita and make my own “chips” then I smear the hummus on & top it with tamed jalapeƱos. YUM!  Am I weird? lol

  1. I have a picky husband and 4 kids. I never cook a single meal that all of us can agree on. The rule in this house is EAT IT OR STARVE. Haha I just can't possibly cater to 5 people or even just myself. It'd be a nightmare, as you can imagine. I say pamper him until you adopt, then make him eat. Hehe ;)

  3. My ITALIAN husband doesn't like meatballs - what the hell?! The only way he'll eat them is sliced thin on a pizza.

Tony doesn't eat half the shit I do - anything spicy is off limits, which is why we have fried chicken and burgers for dinner - I hope that by eating a healtier breakfast and lunch, it all evens out!

  5. Growing up my son was a really picker eater. His sister who is 4 years older ate almost anything so I was caught off guard when he was a picky eater. I would make adjustments every meal I made to accomodate his picky taste buds. Now at age 23 I am amazed at all the things he will eat! Sorry you have to cook two meals - I know how much work that is.

Seasonal favorites? Love apples, butternut squash and anything with pumpkin.

I love to make my own humms, it only takes a few minutes and is so much cheaper.

  6. I guess I would be the "picky" one at home, only because I did some eliminations back in February (doing Paleo) and noticed that I actually lost weight and felt better without wheat and only limited amounts of cow dairy. It's not super hard to adapt to this though in our household - my husband does a lot of cooking and will eat what I eat. The kids aren't picky *at all* with a few exceptions so they have no problem eating all kinds of veggies, meats, fish, spicy, not spicy, etc. If we have pasta we all eat gluten-free pasta.

I also elimated beans so I don't eat normal hummous anymore, but I found a way to enjoy it by using zucchini! It's so delicious. Seriously, I can eat a whole tub of hummous so it's probably just as well I cut beans out of my diet... your chips idea sounds great though, not weird at all!
